Tour de Fleece update

2 skeins on the left are from Alan's fleece that I am now spinning, the 5 on the right are Blain's fleece I just finished ... but in my haste to empty bobbins to start spinning Alan's fleece I forgot to ply the 2 tubes I have left of Blain's fleece, oops I will ply those today.  I have an additional 3 bobbins full of Alan's fleece also.  The black skein on the bottom of the rack is from Ollie, that I washed again.  There are some serious lumps and bumps in Blain's fleece but hey, that should make it more interesting when I felt whatever I decide it will become.  Love the variety of colors of the Shetland fleeces.

Yesterday was our 19th straight day of temps over 100, record is 21 days set in 2005, I was here that year and survived so guess I should make it thru this heat way.  Weatherman said today was going to cool down, ha ha, is 99 really a break in the heat wave?  I have news for him my thermometer already is at 101 and it is not even the hottest part of the day yet.

We finally got out of the 100s...all they way down to the mid-90s! Blech!

  2. I am with you on the Shetland fleece ... I just LOVE the colors. And this year I have Lil' Red (Harlo) my first moorit! And Gypsy my 1/2 Shetland/Cheviot who is all white ... I think I now have almost every color!
I have toyed with the thought of giving up my Cheviots, but I keep talking myself out of it.
They are the real money, and allow me to keep my Shetlands fleece for myself! Guess I am greedy like that.
Your yarn looks so nice, do you know what you will be making yet?
And do you spin on the Louet or the Ashford?
Anyway, keep up the great work, it all looks so good!

  3. at this point, you might as well beat the record. that's how i felt 2 years ago when we had 71 days over 100 that summer (can't remember how many consecutively)

  4. Beautiful yarn; looks lustrous, too! I'm hitting the road today; taking spinning and plying jobs with me. I'm up early to get a ride in before I leave and while it's cool. Brian and I rode along with Rick to the coast yesterday (he had a call there); it was supposed to be near record highs there so we were prepared to play in the ocean but it was TOO COLD. Wish I could have boxed it up and sent you some....

  5. That yarn is beautiful! I still can't get over the fact that you've stuck with it during all of the incredible heat! I get prickly looking at my cotton yarn! Never thought I'd be looking forward to fall while it was still July, but I am.
