Today's is the final leg of the triple crown in horse racing, something I don't pay a lot of attention to until after it's over.
But today is different, California Chrome is a local horse to this valley and trained at Harris Ranch across the river from me.
Go California Chrome.

i'm rooting for c.c. and his jockey - just to break the long streak of no triple crown takers. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. I'm surprised there are no rules about horses signing up for all three races. Maybe that could change. Love the owners of California Chrome and their stories...I think most of the country was rooting for them. Neat that the farm is near you. Do they own the farm or just keep their horses there? There was some criticism about his jockey putting him and that position on the outside of the other three horses instead of getting by the rail, as he does not do well there. I thought he had it in the bag...beautiful boy.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes the Triple Crown such a great honor is it is a true test of a horse. From endurance and distance to staying power and the physical ability to do the task.. Limiting the entries to any of the three great races takes away from the making of a King. California Chrome is a good horse no doubt but it takes something above and beyond to make a Triple crown winner. It is not meant to be a level playing field it is a Challenge! The rant by the co-owner was in exceptionally poor taste. Just an opinion from the other side of the racetrack.
ReplyDeleteWas disappointed CC didn't win the triple, but love the horse and his history, as well as the owners. HAve you had any rain? I have been out of it for a while.Didn't watch TV for over a week.
ReplyDeleteI too love the horse and where he came from. It is a great true story and he did good even though he didn't win the triple crown.
