Lambs have names ........

Clay

I only got pictures of these two boys this morning ... everyone else kept hiding behind mamas, since all last years lambs names started with a B, this year's lambs will all be named starting with  C's.

The girls will all have names from my maternal grandmother's side of the family, Clara, Clarissa and Clarinda.  The black and white, yes he is turning similar to one of the ewe lambs born last year, will be named Clark, a name pulled from my father's side of the family.

The boy in the top photo is turning brown so his name is now Clay.

Last of the Shetlands lambed today

It's a single, but it's a girl.  And, she is basically white, hard to tell by this picture,
and I know one should always have the sun behind them when they
take a picture, but sometimes subjects don't always remember that
and you take what they will stand still for.

Hi Dollar!

Do your moms know you are in the rams pen?

Well it's a guy thing, we want to play and have our lamb races here.

You are in here too?

Look at that sky, you better go back to your pen before mom gets worried.

Less than 3 weeks between pictures

Today when taking the sheep to the top pasture I took another picture in the same area as the one I posted three weeks ago.  It looks like it is going to be a long hot, HOT, summer this year.  Not looking forward the heat and the fire danger.  Sheep are  getting Forage blend of hay once a day now to supplement nutrition, while they hopefully continue to consume some of this dry grass.

May have to keep a wether or two

Little Mother's Day Ram Lamb is looking more brown every day, may just have to keep him around
for awhile as a wether just to see how his fleece turns out.

The black twin ram born on Monday actually has some white on him that you can now see since he as dried off and can look at him in daylight.

More lambs and I am now happier

Can you see these large horn buds ...  yes he is another ram.  His eyes
look red in the pictures but his eyelids look like someone took red eyeliner around
his eyes.  Although he is black there is some brown shading on his face.

But the up side is he has a twin sister, so we have a keeper here.

Last night while I was feeding Ousta was in labor, went out to check on her
a bit later and there was another pair of black lambs, and it's another ram and ewe.  So
there are two that will be keepers.

One more Shetland ewe still due soon, hoping for one more ewe lamb at least.

Not Happy ................

After waiting for 5 months for Shetlands to lamb, excited to see what colors this year's breeding would bring ... here is Macey with her 2 white ram lambs.   There are 3 more ewes due to lamb any day, looking for some more colored ewe lambs.   Then I will be happy.

More Thrift Strore Finds

Yesterday I went to the Thrift Stores looking for a specific item ............ didn't even find anything even close, but there is always something that I come home with ..... if I needed it or not.  Life would probably not have ended if I didn't buy these ................ but here's what I came home with ..........

Naturally I could not pass up the 2 small Candlewick glasses

Of course since today is Cinco de Mayo I had to buy the Avocado and
Chilli Pepper dishes.

$3.00 cute little cottage pitcher

These will look great on the deck railing planted with succulents

Weather today was perfect, bright, sunny, and warm, since the sheep
have eaten most of the grass out of one of the front pastures it was time
to move the Dorpers up the hill.  Of course Dollar was more than
willing to help out.
