it's gettin' ugly out there

This is today's sunrise ........... I am getting the smoke from the Aspen Fire, a forest fire about 50 miles northeast of here, in the Sierras between Yosemite and Kings Canyon National Parks.  Current stats are it is at 14,000 acres and growing.  The tab for fighting this fire is running at a Million Dollars a Day.  The good thing is it is not in a area with much population, mostly very steep heavy wooded terrain.  But we have a lot of firefighters on the ground and in the air in harms way.  This fire was one of several started by lightning and has been burning for 9 or 10 days now.

I can't even see the mountains beyond these.

And what is worse, we won't get any significant rain until maybe October if we are lucky.

If you have rain and are tired of it, move to California and suffer with us.

This summer there have also been several large wildfires in both Riverside and San Diego County as well as other smaller wildfires around the state.

  2. You have had a really tough summer/year. How likely is that fire to spread closer to you? Do you have an exit plan for you and your animals? I would gladly send my rain your way, if it was in my power.

  3. Prayers for the safety of those fire fighters, as well as you. I hope it stays away from your farm. Really like the color of that room on p51. I looked in the sources and they don't give it. You can e-mail CS and they will contact the homeowner and ask for you. They did me, when people wanted answers to something that wasn't given. I hope you find it.(I wanted to say I love it)lol

  8. I will share ours, which is weird that we even have rain in august - weekly if not every-other-night rain showers...we never seen it so green here in august before.

So wishing you our weird rain in august to put out those fires!

  9. Those mountain views are gorgeous, I can imagine them without the smoke. It sounds like what we had last summer and it really affected my lungs more than I would have thought. So far this summer we have not had a significant fire here in the Tehachapis. Three more months, you say. I hope so because we really need some RAIN!
