Put a fork in me .... I'm cooked

Welcome to Sunny Central California ................. since I started tracking high and low temps the first of June,  six days so far have been 100 degrees or higher .... and there have only been 6 days so far to track.  Weatherman says we are in for a heat wave this weekend, with tomorrow's high predicted for 110, don't think I will be going into town to participate in WWKIP day  It should cool down to the 90's next week.  Average days for weather to be over 100 in this area is 36, but last year there were 47, going to be a long hot summer ...... welcome to global warming.  For everyone in the east that is getting nothing but rain, you are getting more in one day than I got all this year.  I keep saying I am not going to whine, grandma told me nothing is so bad it could not be worse.  So many States are having weather problems that I cannot even comprehend what I would do.  So for now I will keep the critters water full, and play in the sprinklers, may go buy some new misters to put out in the willow tree to keep the woolies cooler.

To get me thru the summer I am keeping the fridge full of cold water, iced tea, and some coffee ice cream in the freezer.

2 scoops of coffee ice cream, cold leftover morning coffee, squirt of Redi Whip and some Hershey's Chocolate Syrup and who needs to go to town to Starbuck's.

Take care, in the meantime I am staying out of the sun as much as the critters will let me, they are trying to stay in the shade themselves.

  1. Mmmm; that looks GOOD. I'd go find an air-conditioned cafe to knit in public if I were you!

  2. I don't know if it's easier to try and stay warm or try and stay cool. I guess it's easier to add layers - after a while, there is only so much you can take off! I feel for you. How is the water situation where you are? Do you have well water? I don't know that I'd fare well in a drought - deep well, shallow water. Hope the heat wave passes soon.

  3. Oh my goodness that looks so good I drooled on my keyboard LOL! Here's to cool thoughts! We are heading into a heat wave too, though only in the mid 90's. As they saying goes, but it's a dry heat (whatever, hot is hot LOL!)

  5. Now that looks like a very cool treat! Is your extreme heat normal for this time of year where you are? We are hitting the 90's every day now. I dread July and August.

  6. I'll be right over! LOL! Looks yummy. Stay cool, I don't enjoy the heat either. We're in the 90's now and they said we could reach 100 in a couple of weeks. Ugh. The long hot summer has begun....

  8. Sounds like you've found some good ways to stay cool. It was 100 here yesterday, at 4100 feet. And more to come today. Take care and I hope your wooly critters will be as cool as possible too.

  9. I use left over morning coffee, pour into empty 16oz pop bottle, add milk, place in freezer. Give it a shake every now and then, drink when it hits the slushy stage. Can add chocolate. To make mocha soda, add club soda. Very tasty! Often my lunch when I'm haying.
I do hope it cools off and rains for you soon. What is your fire danger like? I would guess high.

  11. We are suffering with the heat right along with you. In the 100s every day for almost a week now and for the forseeable future. It seems the older I get, the less I can tolerate it. It actually makes me sick to my stomach to be out in it for very long. Blech!
I love your coffee shake idea for staying cool, yum!! :)
