Less than 3 weeks between pictures

Today when taking the sheep to the top pasture I took another picture in the same area as the one I posted three weeks ago.  It looks like it is going to be a long hot, HOT, summer this year.  Not looking forward the heat and the fire danger.  Sheep are  getting Forage blend of hay once a day now to supplement nutrition, while they hopefully continue to consume some of this dry grass.

  1. oh, wow. big change. it is warming up and drying out here, too. grass growth has slowed WAY down and grasshoppers are everywhere, eating the greenery away. our hay field is overdue for baling (waiting on neighbors!) and has browned and tasseled out!

    1. Probably won't see any measureable rain until October. Really don't want any rain until then due to thunderstorms and lightning strike fires.

  3. Our vivid green Spring grass does that, too, only not quite so early or fast. Sure would be nice if it lasted all summer!

  6. Ouch. It almost hurts to look at those two pictures. People who aren't tuned in to nature or the land or raising animals have no idea what a huge impact the weather and/or a "bad" season has on not only your finances but your emotions, too. Hoping that somehow you DO get adequate rainfall before October.
